PEDAL has a history of social and safety activities and community involvement.

The first Earth Day, April 1970: PEDAL founded by Joe Brockstein, Jim Disney, Art Minnick, and Darrel Smith as:
People's Efforts to De-emphasize Automobiles in Loveland. -
Helped organize first Loveland Bike Week with Kerry Randa, 1987.

Served on committee that organized first Colorado Bike Week.

Organized second Loveland Bike Week, 1989.

Ran Bike Rodeo at Loveland Police Fair, 1990.

PEDAL members contributed to transportation master plan created by the Northern Front Range Regional Transportation Planning and Air Quality Program Council (NFRT & AQPC) Bikeways Focus Group. (Not making this name up: this is what happens when government administrators name things.)
