LYONS - ST VRAIN CANYON

Calling all climbers. Time to put your summer fitness to use. Meet at Sandstone Park in Lyons near the Lyons Visitor Center at 8:30 on Thursday Oct. 5 for a ride up the St Vrain Canyon, across Peak to Peak Hwy to Ward, down Left Hand Canyon and US 36 back to Lyons. About 48 miles and 4500 feet of climbing. If we are lucky we may get to see some fall color. Bring lots of food and water. There is a store in Ward but it is not always open.

 

It will be 10 - 15 degrees cooler up on P2P so dress accordingly. Depending on temps a jacket for the descent down Left Hand Canyon is a good idea.

 

Short Option: Ride as far up St. Vrain Canyon as you wish then turn around and coast back down to Lyons.

 

Please let me know if you plan to ride. Weather storms or high winds are more likely at the higher elevations and I'd like to be able to contact everyone if the weather looks questionable.
